Position: Vice President
Simply Savant is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide new educational opportunities to underprivileged children in my local community. We run a number of different projects, including, among others, Build-a-Library, in which we supply local schools and nonprofit organizations with books and bookshelves, and Camp Savant, a summer enrichment program for kids at the Boys and Girls Club. We frequently hold fundraising events to raise money for each of our projects. For example, since the first event two years ago, we have annually hosted a large-scale benefit concert, in which YouTube singers, dancers, comedians, and other stars have performed. We are in the process of planning the third annual installation of this event for January 2014.
As Vice President, I oversee the internal offices within the organization and coordinate the activity of each of our members. I take the initiative in planning new projects and fundraising events. When necessary, I meet and communicate with members of other organizations and institutions who assist us in running certain projects. In planning benefit events, I manage the various subcommittees in charge of different logistical details (i.e. in the case of our benefit concert: food, advertising, performer recruitment, and venue/stage planning), in addition to doing work within each of these groups myself. I also run our website: http://simplysavant.weebly.com/. Over the course of my time as a member of Simply Savant, I have personally raised over $8,000 for the organization.
